And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing
that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the
Lord Christ.
(Colossians 3:23-24)

The Usher Ministry is one of hospitality, of welcoming and assisting those who come to
worship, and of working hand in hand with the pastoral staff in fulfilling the objective of
hearing the Word of God.

It consists of a group of dedicated individuals whose duties include assisting with
creating a safe and comfortable environment for all who enter its sanctuary, knowing the
location of emergency medical equipment kept on the church property, disseminating
information such as the Sunday morning bulletins, seeing that people are seated,
receiving the offering and doing whatever tasks are necessary to ensure that the church
services flow in an orderly and effective manner. Visitors should be welcomed warmly
and made to feel at home. Church Ushers should have pride in their work and perform
their duties as unto the Lord.

From the moment a person steps into the sanctuary, the Usher Ministry is one of the
first official representatives of Jesus Christ seen by most visitors.
The usher’s light must burn brightly, which of course means that the fruit of the Spirit
must be very evident in his or her life.
