Deacon Robert Leon, Jr. – Deacon Ministry Leader
I was born on March 6, 1950. I have lived in Jacksonville all of my life. As a child, I attended Second Baptist Church under the Pastorship of Reverend J.C. Sams at the insistence of my grandmother and I was baptized at an early age. I had a very limited understanding of God’s word and no understanding of what it meant to be saved. I graduated from Eugene J. Butler High School in 1968 and immediately started a career in the printing industry. In 1970 I met and married my beautiful wife Sister, Lashone Leon of forty-six years. We also have two wonderful spirit-filled, saved and sanctified adult children who love God, Robert lll and Sophia.
From 1982 through 1986 I attended Jacksonville University taking management courses at the request of my employers, Peninsular Life Insurance Company. After thirty-five years in the printing profession, I decided on a change. I sold insurance for a company by the name of Liberty National Life Insurance. At the beginning of 2009, I worked for a manufacturing company making plastic fencing. I also was employed by G4S Secure Solutions for four years as a Security Officer. I am now currently Employed by Duval County Public Schools as a Front Office Assistant.
In 2005, I visited Julington Baptist Church by invitation from my dear friend Reverend Ridgeway Middleton and his wife Sister Mae Lois. I attended the Men’s day function, then my wife and I was present at the Choir Concerts. After months of trying to find a church home with years of being out in the world with no real direction in life, in 2005 I asked the Lord Jesus Christ to forgive me of my sins and come into my life and this is where the Lord led us and we are thankful. The Lord called on me to work in His Service and for His Glory in Julington’s Security Department. I am currently and totally serving our Lord, our Pastor, and the Julington family in the Office of Deacon.

The Lord calls on all of us to work in His service for His glory. I am pleased to serve. I realize there is much more to learn but I am committed to serving our Lord, our Pastor and the Julington Family as a Deacon.

In 2003, I joined the St. Nicholas Bethel Baptist Church, on the day Rev. Staples was the guest minister and he delivered the sermon. In October 2005 I was appointed a deacon. Rev. Staples continued to visit us periodically and he invited me to Julington and the rest is history. Thanks to God for the training that has helped me in my spiritual growth. Finally I was exposed to the type of teaching I so desperately needed. I thank God and my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and I give him all the praise, the honor and the glory for giving me this opportunity to serve him as a deacon in Julington Baptist Church.
