| | Ushers Ministry | | Headed by Antonette Grayson - God asks the church to be a fellowship sharing a common purpose and continually growing in faith. Paul describes the church as Christ’s “body” (Ephesians. 1:22). People experience the presence of Jesus Christ in the world through the ministry of the church. As we serve the needs of people, members and non-members, we express the love of God. The church is a servant body, created for service. “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:10). As ushers, we are the ministers of hospitality and caring in the church. When people come to church they are sometimes burdened, sad or discouraged. Each person, member or newcomer, comes with the hope that the service will provide a sought after answer to an old or recent problem. The skillful usher helps to make this a reality for those in attendance. As ushers we do not claim to have a love anymore than the average church member, however; we are duty bound to ensure that God’s love is felt by each person that we have opportunity to come in contact with. We recognize our calling as one that can make or break the decision of some depending on how we are represented. As we greet worshippers, escort them, distribute materials, or receive the offerings we are vigilant and alert for any emergency or condition that may require our assistance. We do this and other task gladly and freely because God’s love is a truly a fact with each of us. | | | |
